I'm looking to buy 5 Lavender Orpingtons. I was wondering if anybody had any tips on checking them over for any diseases before bringing them home?

Look for nasal discharge/sneezing, feather quality, check for external parasites, check legs, check condition/weight, check for cleanliness - quarantine for 4 weeks. Good luck.

Might depend on your tolerance for risk.
Consider biological/medical quarantine:
