I got 5 new babies Sunday. 2 French Copper Marans and 3 Welsummers. They are suppose to be about 5 weeks old. I'm hoping they are all girls and that a roo didn't slip in.. here are pics..

^i was told these were 5 weeks old, i think this lil 1 is younger^

^the 3 welsummers together. the 1 in the middle is much smaller and not as feathered.^

All 3 of the welsummers seem to have the same size comb, so i'm hoping they are all females. the 2 bigger 1's dont have the colored V shape on their head but could it be because they have gotten their feathers in?

The Marans both have the same size and color comb, but 1 of them has copper tinting all over.

Both of the black chicks are girls.

The younger chick appears to be a girl, but time will tell.

Regarding the welsummers... Mehhhh... The combs scream boys, but they lack color. I haven't raised welsummers before, so I don't know how they develop (ie, Cochins tend to get larger, un colored combs sooner than most breeds), but I'd say the welsummers are all boys, not including the young one. That being said, since they lack any color (the combs aren't really pink) I'm not 100% comfortable saying they're roosters.

So I'll go with, you have at least 3 girls.

I would say that the welsummers are pullets since they are getting brown breast feathers and not black, but welsummers have yellow legs and on my screen your chicks look like they have white legs.

I will check out their legs today. What would the be if they are not welsummers? They are still a little young and i tried to choose the ones with the smallest combs.
