5 new chicks eyes are often close even when they move

Hi 5 hatched 2 yesterday 3 today .they have there eyes shut most of the time is that normal?my first babys.

I have had some chicks do that before, they are probably fine. Just keep an eye on them.

what is the temp in your brooder??

It does not have to be 90* do they also have their mouths open? Like they are panting? turn the temp down..

If they huddle, they are cold,If they move about freely and independently, they are just right..

newly hatched birds will sometimes rest a lot.. after a couple to a few days they will act like chicks..

One more note: I have noticed that too high of a temp will kill turkey
babies.. I rarely go over 80 degrees..

I have seen clucks and babies outside in 50* weather..
