Hi,
I recently received my order of chicks. Among them, were white frizzle cochins. They are white but have slate blue-grey shanks and beak and appear to have dark skin. They also have a 5th toe. I'm positive I am not misidentifying them as the frizzled feathers have appeared on the wings and on the feet. I didn't think that cochins had a 5th toe! Could they have been cross-bred with something else or is this typical?
Thanks,
Jessi

I have one white cochin with 5 toes, but if your little ones have dark skin and sort of dark/blue legs and feet, you probably have silkies! Be very careful with the silkies, they steal souls, and once you have one, you can never get enough! They are wonderful pets and even better broodies though!

They are probably silkies. Silkie feathering when first coming in can sometimes look like frizzling. Can you post pics?

Lots of breeds can be frizzled (technically any breed but not all have had the gene bred into them yet) so unless you specifically ordered frizzled cochins and nothing else from someone they don't have to be cochins.
