5 week check in.

No, both genders can have single combs. View attachment 3069234
The two with the muffs (cheek floof!) have pea combs. Currently, they comb development looks pretty feminine to me.
The two reddish ones have single combs. Or is it one bird? There's two photos. Anyways, large pinkish combs at this age often mean male, but I'm actually leaning pullet(s?) based on the way the comb is developing. Just looks like an early blooming female as of yet.
Oh thank you. This is so helpful. All pics are of different chicks. I have 4.

The comb thing is so confusing. Is a single comb indicating a pullet?
For the photo you just posted, that bird has a large pea comb for this age, but it still looks feminine to me. Some bits are hard to explain...when you've got a lot of expierience you can get a bit of a "feel" for how males and females develop at this age.
Her comb is large but the surface is mainly flat and there's no reddish-pink coloration. The "three rows" male combs often have at a young age are not really present for this bird. I'm gonna stick with female.

Okay, thanks. I think I'll say all girls, but watch out for sudden comb development and/or dark/vibrant feather growth on their shoulders.
See on this young male EE, he's got these male-specific color patches coming in?
