I have two batches of Nankin Bantams in brooders at 5-6 weeks old. This morning I was out feeding and one of them was trying to crow at me. Everything I have seen or read tells me that this is WAY early in development. Any ideas or suggestions? Mind you, I don't think it's a PROBLEM, but it's odd.

Well went otu to check on them for the night, and give a nighty-night treat. Still a would-be-crower. Wish I could catch the one doing it in the act.

I've had chicks crow at 4 DAYS old. Five weeks is not unusual.

By the way, bumping your own thread is against BYC rules.

Didn't even think about it that way, just wanted to update/add that I was NOT loosing my mind and imagining things, lol.

I had a chick crowing and mating with my pullets at 5 weeks. I am told it just depends on the chick.

Btw I update my posts all the time with another post not really thinking about it... I worry that people will think I'm bumping but I usually do it on my iPad and if I edit to update sometimes it deletes what I originally posted. Tricky rules.:/
