I know bantam Cochins get combs and wattles pretty young, even the girls, and I know 5 weeks is probably still too soon but I like posting to ask anyway! :) Helps me learn!

This is Brie, she was hatched 8/29 and came from my own bantam Cochins. She was an only chick her first week of life as the momma gave up on the other eggs. So she’s my baby and I really want her to be a her! She pecks a lot just like her momma so I’m hoping it’s a girl thing 😆

We have a number of bantam cochins. Adults and chicks ( some are about 3 months old some I think are about the same age as yours). All of the adults have distinct comb characteristics between the males and females. Any at that age that got large combs and wattles, all were cockerels. Our females all have almost nonexistent combs (super small but not peacombs, straight combs just really tinyn didn't get much bigger than what appeared @ 5 wks) but all the males got them (and waddles) early and have very defined combs and waddles now.

The attached pic-1103, (they're about 6 wks old here) the red (on the left and buff) their combs never got any bigger than what you see - they are female) the two red roosters (both on the right) always had larger ones(deeper colored too). So it's possible you have a little pullet. This (1700) is one of the roosters @ 5 months.
