Hey all! I'm new to Backyard chickens and new to having chickens myself.

I have a 5 week old chick which I named her 'Nugget' and i love her dearly. Yesterday a friend accidentally stood on Nugget and hurt her leg. Her leg from the bottom joint of her thigh dangles sideways if i put her on her back, it feels all loose. Yesterday there was swelling on her toes. Today swelling has gone down.

She can't move her feet nor have i seen her try and move it. I can't seem to find broken bones as its more under her wing where her thigh is. I can't afford to take her to the vet as I'm not making as much money at the moment.

She's eating, drinking and making her happy chirps when she eats and when she sees me. She stands and hop's around on the good leg. So she seems to not be in pain when there is no pressure on the leg. Overall she's good and healthy.

I have added a picture showing where it hurts her between the arrows. The bottom arrow pointing at the joint of the knee is where her leg went sideways when she was on her back.

Any ideas, Is there anything i can do, is her leg broken/ dislocated? Please help as this is my first chicken and i feel so responsible, i love my Nugget

Welcome to BYC. There could be a broken bone plus nerve damage. It can take a couple of weeks for bones to heal, and it might never heal if it's in a part of the leg that is hard to splint. Several layers of tape can be used to splint, and some have used popsicle sticks and the metal padded finger splints that are bendable. Here are 3 links on splinting:
