Our 5 week old chicks have been doing amazing up until the last two weeks. One after the other are dying. They seem to have respiratory issues? This guy/girl was fine this morning. Eating treats out of my hand like normal and running around. Tonight he’s in his death bed.
how can I help him? I have VetRx. I put thataround his nostrils and mouth and also gave him two drops orally.
I’ve put the heat lamp back above their brooders but at 2ft up. They were getting too hot and doing everything they could to avoid it so I took it away. But have been advised with the current situation to put it back, just higher. We live on the gulf coast in TX. It’s already reaching 100°. I still have them inside with a house at 74°. Things I’ve been advised to do-
1. Medicated feed (some chicks had pasty butt in the very beginning).
2. HydroHen
3. Oregano, ACV, and VetRx in their water.
4. Corid (one of the chicks that died had bloody poop the day before death). 1 cap full in a gallon of water.
I’m doing all of this as instructed and were still experiencing one death after another. I don’t understand.
We have Tractor Supply which is the only thing open on Sundays. I feel like whatever I’m dealing with, all the chicks are getting it one by one. Even my older teenagers outside (4 months old) have been dying one by one! They’re all fine running around. Say good night and shut their coop. Go out in the morning and one is dead on the floor!!
Please help!!
