5 week old chicks

Hi I am new to this back yard chicken idea. I have these five week old chicks and i live in kentucky and we have had more rain than ever so mi back yard is very wet not not puddling but very soggy. i was cusious if i would be able to let them out to freerange while i am at work 10am to 6pm. Do you think that they will be safe? Also my coop is in my garage and i cut a hole in the wall with a door attached that i have to manually open. but behind the garage i have compost pile maily leaves that i have recently found mice in should i worry about that?

I would say that they are too young to free range at that age...

adult chickens are vulnerable to predators, so little 5 week old babies are gonna be SUPER vulnerable. i wouldn't personally let them free range without supervision.
