Five weeks ago, I had two chicks hatch. Sadly, I had to put one down due to a dislocated hip. We bought the other chick a few friends from the farm store who were a week older. Three days ago I hatched another chick who hatched early. I moved the older chicks from the farm store outside, but kept my chick back. I moved the 2 day old chick in with him, and I was very surprised at what happened. He immediately started playing mother hen to the baby! He lets the baby stay under him and covers the baby with his wing! This is why I love chickens, they just keep surprising me!
