5 week old ducklings, a video.

Alright, here we go, cross-posted from my thread in the duck forum. I have 4 x 5 week old ducks. The Welsh Harlequin, Daisy, is female. The peeping duck, Chester, the Khaki Campbell, is a male (I think). I’m not sure about the Rouens.

I think you have one of each. The Rouen on the left side of the video sounds like a male, and the one toward the center definitely has a female quack.

Thank you! Here’s two more videos. Do you still think I have one of each? I can not pick them up individually as their “mom” is an aggressively protective Muscovy, so I just separated them. The video with two ducks is one of the babies who took a wrong turn at tucking-in time and ended up with one of the grown-up “aunts”.

Thank you! So, one of the Rouens or the KC will have to go eventually. Darn. I’m leaning towards keeping the Rouen, but it will really depend one who behaves the best once mature.

Gosh, it's so difficult to tell who is making which noises. In this video I'm pretty sure both Rouens are females, but unsure about the Harlequin. Thank you Daisy, the Harlequin, started quacking at 3 weeks old, but was letting the others have a go when I took these videos. She has a loud and sarcastic voice that carries from the barn to the house in the AM when I’m not fast enough at letting her out! The KC is certainly a lost cause, but is a nice boy for now. He will just have to prove himself to stay.

Ok, posting one more! Poor Chester the KC can’t get past the peeping stage. Daisy is quiet again, but I swear she quacks loudly!

Oh goodness in that video it seems like it’s only the khaki that’s a drake I could have sworn those were drake noises coming out of the one Rouen, but maybe it was the khaki every time the Rouen opened its mouth lol

I totally agree, you have only one drake and it is the Khaki Campbell. Lucky you!!!
