5 Week Old EE Gender

What do you see here? I’m still learning, so would you please also mention specific features that lead you to say cockerel or pullet?

No expert but i would say pullet.

I would say boy because with EEs the boys usually have blotchy patches on the shoulders.

I'm still learning too, but I also have a 5 week old EE that looks nearly identical to your bird and it has a more pronounced comb that is RED. The comb has three identifiable ridges and is larger than my brown EEs of the same age. I'm sure it's a boy, although it was sold as a girl.

Oh well, he's handsome at any rate. Sorry, no pics just yet!

Also, I thought I read something on here about silver or B/W EE typically being boys. Yours looks like mine in every way EXCEPT comb.

I say pullet based on the lack of size and color in the comb. The lighting and angle in the photos aren't the greatest so if you have better pics it would be more helpful.

REALLY need better pics in natural light.

This one is hard. Appears to be a pullet... but the comb is pink. The most startling thing is the color... I've never seen it attributed to anything but roos. The black/white hens usually look simular to campines in color, with less white than this chick has.

I'm not an expert by any means however in taking a guess...

I would say pullet b/c of what seems like a very small comb, an oval body & legs/feet on the slender side. My eyeballs don't see any pink in the comb.

A clear, straight-on frontal head pic would be a great help.

My very unexpert oppinion is pullet. My EE roos at that age had bright red combs, they were also chest bumping already (though I have had some pullets do that)

Here are my EE roos at 5 weeks if this helps (they have already been rehomed to my friend that loved their colors, so they are happily free ranging!)

(pea comb so smaller, but definitely red)
