or layingI am new to the breed, but I heard they develop slowly, so it can be a gamble until they start crowing![]()
Not at 5 weeks.or laying![]()

I have a 7 week Jersey Giant and her comb is about half that and still fleshy colored. I am new to the breed as well so I've wondered myself but I'm feeling confident now that I have a hen and you have a rooster.Picture?
Hello! I am wondering if my 5 week old Jersey is a cockerel or pullet? I don't have any of its siblings to compare it to, so it's making it more difficult! Please help!![]()
I haven't had a 5 week old crowing yet either, I just meant I'm hoping mine starts laying rather than crowing. Not at 5 weeks.
I stored my pictures, but my JG cockerel was crowing by 8 weeks. The girls were much slower. In my experience they grow slowly but don't MATURE slowly. He was crowing at 8 weeks but at 9 months he was only slightly larger than my other rooster, and still growing. He got between his girls and a dog at 9 months, so I never got to see how big he might have gotten.
