5 week old Muscovys fighting each other...

Is it normal for 5-6 week old ducklings to fight? Today it looked like one was trying to drown the other in the kiddie pool. Today one of them was actually harassing another adult female, too. Does that mean they are drakes? I asked for help sexing a week or so ago but didn't get any responses.

my drake is 9 weeks and keeps trying to mate with my girls, he also chases and tries to attack any bird that lands in our yard. could be two drakes getting territorial over a female

It’s all practice at that age. My females tussle more than my drakes. One thing your needing to know is when actual mating starts the drake will hold the ducks head underwater, first time I saw this I just knew she was being drowned but it’s all part of duck mating which isn’t pretty at all. I’ve had Muscovy since 2004 and haven’t lost one female to drowning from mating.
