Hi,
I am a newbie to the chicken world. I just got a few baby chicks, one of which is a silkie that is about 5 weeks old. He/She is "coughing" with no sounds but sneezing (no runny nose or discharge though), yet remains very active and is eating and drinking well. It seems to be from time to time and not constant. This morning he/she did it several times in a row and worried me, then later in the day haven't seen he/she do it again. This started the day we brought them home or the next day, so sat./sun. ish. Other then the silent "cough" and sneeze from time to time the bird seems normal and healthy. I thought at first it was all just due to stress of a move but I am inexperienced and do not know if I should be concerned? Does anyone else have any sort of experience with this sort of thing? Appreciate the advice and feedback! Thank you!

If no one seems sick, I wouldn't worry too much. Chicks put out a lot of dust, and one possibility is this has irritated its respiratory tract. I'd make sure the brooder has good air exchange. They may be a bit hot; try adjusting raising the heat source. It's very easy to overheat chicks. Be sure the water is high enough to prevent their keeping it filled with litter, to prevent dehydration.
