This is their first night to get up on the roost perch. I think the one standing is a cockerel. He's a troublemaker already. I think the little white/black speckle under the hen is a pullet. Red, I don't know, maybe pullet. The other black and white is a carbon copy of the standing one, also a troublemaker and the two of them ruffle up their feathers and dance around each other. None of the others do that. The tiny solid black on the end I think is going to be a bantam something and I think is a pullet. Any opinion anyone?

The Black ones look like Australorps!
But I can't see them very well!

The black and white one next to the red, and the one on the far left are probably males. But i'm no expert! The red one looks like an RIR.

Those black ones look just like black-bantam-cochin/american-game crosses that I've seen! You're right that the two bigger black ones are cockerels, and that the smaller one is a pullet. The speckled and RIR look like pullets [IMG] Where did they come from? Did you hatch them out?

Got the Momma hen and her chicks when they were a few days old at a swap meet, cheap. I dont know if any of them are really her chicks. But they all seem game-ish.

Do the chicks stay with the hen?

Yes they have all been together, no brooder, Momma would sit on them and keep them warm, she has been a good Momma. They have all lived amongst the 4 other hens without any trouble.

She probably hatched them out from someone else's eggs.[IMG]
