I brooded fall chicks in northern Michigan many times. Never indoors. Always in an out building. Never lost a one. You're doing just fine. The chicks will also be just fine. There is one heck of a lot more bitter cold weather coming, so yours are being prepared by feathering out. It is the kindest thing you can do.
