My black chick, the first chick pictured, is a bit over 5 weeks. He/she was sold to me as a black australorp (purchased two but my other BA has feathered feet, so I'm thinking it's a maran of some sort).

This chick is a spitfire, always giving me the evil eye, and just generally testy. I've been keeping close watch on it's comb and wattles because I've suspected it's a cockerel for some time. Tell me what you think of his/her breed and gender.

While you're here, please check out my (supposedly) barred rock chick. It too is starting to exhibit some questionable behavior.

All 7 chicks of mine were purchased as pullets. Hoover hatchery/Rural King. These two are my dissenters, for now lol.

For sure that's a barred rock, but can't say for sure if it's male or female. For fun, I believe it is a female based on my own experience of raising BR hens, but I am basing that off of current comb size alone, and that is not the best indicator.

This is my unknown breed, was sold as BA. She's the sweetest, second pic is her wanting me to pick her back up lol.
