Chirping
Hello everyone,
This is one of our first ever chicks. Hatched by first time mother hen. She hatched 4, but two must have fell out of nest in first day and dies, 3rd one gone missing and we never found it. Pip was the only survivor. Everything was going well with it, super cute little chick was most adorable thing and growing. In about 5 weeks old mother started laying, stopped clucking and just wanted get out of nursery. When i was changing water/feed she would jump out and Pip got so distressed! It was heartbreaking to see. Mother would come back tho. But she was getting out more often and for longer. Within a week Pip deteriorated. It started with change in its voice, not as bright, then wobble, now it can't walk. Tries to stand up, but wobbles badly and falls on its face. It looks like this happened from stress of being abandoned.
Living in the cage in the house now. Has a mirror which Pip loves and i take outside during the day for interaction with chickens. Doesn't look like Mareks. Started giving vit B complex. Feed with crumbs, eggs, worms and sunflower seeds. Its been like this for 3 weeks.
I read lots of similar stories, when chicks fall on their legs. But never found any endings... Does anyone know if Pip has a chance to get well? Anyone experienced recovery after such disability in chicks?
Thank you.
