These were supposed to be sexed, all pullets but the combs are making me worried. I have 4 of this breed and three look more “rooster-y” while only one looks hen like to me. Thoughts?

The suspicious looking bird (two more look like this one):

And the less concerning bird:

:( we keep them for layers and pets and already have a rooster so I’m getting worried over this :/. We’ve had two peaceful roos before but they were hatchmates and a know a rarity to coexist happily.

Is it as I fear? Do you think I likely have 3 Roos in my new set? Thanks for the feedback and thoughts!

I can't tell from the pictures that well, but it would be helpful to look at their saddle feathers. If they are pointy, it's a roo!

The ones with the red combs are cockerels. Where did you get these chicks? They are porcelain D’Uccles, which are bantams and always sold as straight run.

No it wouldn’t, they are too young to develop male saddle feathers.

Literally just posted this except I only have 4: 3 roos and 1 girl!!! I asked if it was even possible for them to coexist and the common answer was basically no. So sad bc I’m attached!

sure looks like a young cockerel to me. nice comb red at 5 weeks.
2nd one does appear to be pullet at this point. some do develop just a bit later, but I'd vote pullet on 2nd picture.

Well crud :/
Yeah this was the first time I ever got chicks from tractor supply, big mistake, should have stuck with my tried and true. Learned the breed after the first week, didn’t know that this breed only is available as straight run. Thanks for your feedback on the sex.

Oh no, we are twins in unfortunateness! We are very attached to ours as well.

I can say I HAVE had 3 Roos at a time briefly, before we lost one. Then we had two for quite some time and they never fought. I’m skeptical about it working with any more than that. How much room will your guys have? Extra space helps. Our separated themselves into sub flocks :p

Lol twins. Well their run isn’t built yet but their coop is 4’ x 4’ which they haven’t moved into yet. Their lease here is not up! Haha
