I haven't seen any photos of Black Austrolorps with so much white striping on feathers and such a wide flat comb. It is really red, and s/he already shows red waddles, I think. Any ideas? Is my dear Abigail a roo? She is significantly heavier than her EE and BR sisters, but that could be a breed thing? Thanks.

accck, where is the photo? Man.
I'll describe h/she as best as I can, if photo doesn't work.
And I apologize, I don't know any termenology.
The shaft of her feathers are white with some white coloring in the feather as well, making her feathers look vertically stripy.
her comb area is really red, but mottled with black, and it looks flat with no visible upright comb shape at all and not pea shaped either, just a little bumpy.

It's looks like a Silver Laced Wyandotte to me, and I would say based on the redness of the comb, that it is a cockeral.

I have a SLW that had a redder comb than any of my other breeds and was worried it might be a cockeral but it turned out to be a pullet.

Ugh, I guess I'll wait a bit longer, though I'm leaning toward roo as well. He/she is so bossy and just started pulling out tail feathers of the other girls! I would like to know sooner than later so we can give him away young and we won't get more attached.

Wondering how easy it is to give away roos? Do people generally take them in or are we stuck with culling her/him if/when he/she crows? We simply cannot have rosters, though SLW roos are beautiful!
