We have a 5 week old pullet that got attacked by a hawk 3 days ago, minor lacerations on back. We are treating with veterycin, gave extra protein, husband has been giving nutrients. Today we noticed she has a prolapsed vent (possibly too much protein?!) We are using antibiotic ointment, prep h and hydrocortisone ointment. I wash my hands and push it back in (bright red like internal tissue). It has came out about 10 times in the last 3 hours. No food or water, any other recommendations? I'm worried about her. TIA

When you say "no food or water" do you mean she is not eating or drinking? Or do you mean you are withholding food and water?

Can you post a picture of the setup you have her in? If she is in an open enclosure is there a box or brooder she can get into or under for safety? At that age they need protection as they normally depend on a mother hen to alert them to danger.

We have a hen that this happens to from time to time. When it happens continuously, I use Prep H and push it back in, then hold it for 10 seconds. Last time this fixed it for months before it started happening again, but I haven't seen it get bad again (defined as multiples times per day, every day) since then.
