500.00 coop and run for 8 chickens? Can it be?

You should be able to easily find something for $500. There are probably at least 6 people in Colorado regularly making coops and selling them on Craig's List. I regularly see them for only a couple hundred bucks, including a couple people that post down in the Springs. If you can't find anything down there, also look in the Denver and Fort Collins Craig's list because a lot of them will deliver. Are you searching under Farm and Garden? If not, that is where most of the coops are posted.

Editing to add- Okay, here are some to get you started. I'm sure a lot of these people would do custom dimensions for you. The coops I got from the first guy, Matt, were an incredible deal for what I got. There is another couple that make tons of coops in several different styles, but I couldn't find one of their ads. They are in Wyoming, but will deliver to part of CO or ship (which they only charge a minimal amount for). I'll keep an eye out for their ads or you might be able to find them on Ebay (they are in Lagrange I believe is the name of the town). Hope this helps! There are lots of used coops on there too and some that are a little more than $500.

I had looked at some of those craigslist options and just didnt think they were right for us, and couldnt find a shipping crate to save my skin! lol DO yall think that A frame coop (the big 300.00) one will be ok for 8 hens... I'm mostly concerned about them in winter, having enough space, and the run being big enough. Thanks for helping out such a noob!

I am getting a HUGE crate!! Perfect chicken coop, here I come!! I'm so thankful to you all!! I had been looking for those crates and apparently didnt look hard enough. Thank you SO much!!

Oh, good! I am so glad! The funny thing is that several months ago there were a ton of those crates on CL here locally. In recent months, I have hardly seen them advertised at all. Anyway, I hope it works for you!

Look for a used Rubbermaid Shed on craigslist. You might find an 8x8 for $200 to $300.
