I have a question. Sometimes I would go out to check on the chicks and they look like they are panting or something? What are they doing? I do have an idea that they are either hot or are trying to work down some food.

They are probabley hot. I am not sure where you live, but here in SW new Mexico it is hot and my chickens pant.

Probably hot.

I put my brooder outside and don't use a light now unless it gets below 60 at night.

Mine range from 4-8 weeks old.

Be sure they have plenty of fresh cool water and some shade.

Also some freeze bottles of water to put in with them to keep them cooler.

They have a lot of shade. And they always turn out fine, so it's probably nothing. I was just thinking about it... Thanks for the info!
