We received 54 Jumbo Quail eggs from ugly ducky this week. They are in the incubator now!

Here they are, aren't they beautiful!!

Ignore the thermometer, it had been sitting on the counter for a while.

There are more goldens than browns. The thing that surprised me is their size. I thought they would have been larger. They are almost the same size as our regular quail eggs.

Here's a shot of one of mine and one of the jumbos. Mine is the one on the left.

Looking forward to having these hatch. If my quail percentage lasts, I'll have about 36 hatch.

It looks homemade.

I got some jumbo goldens from her a month or so ago, the eggs were about the same size as my jumbos' eggs are. But if her birds are young, their eggs will be on the small side. Mine lay whoppers every once in a while, but they are close to a year old.

Yes, it is homemade. It is a Omaha Meats ice chest.

I can also add "Award Winning" incubator.

It came in 2nd place in February or March in the BYC Homemade Incubator contest.

You run with your home made incubator! Why people pay $200 for a $3 fan, $2 heat source, and about $1.50 worth of Styrofoam and wire is beyond me.
Not trying to hijack the the thread on this rant.

More on topic: Jumbos/A&M/etc.. do occasionally lay monster eggs. Great for eating, but not hatching. Anything over 1/4 the size of a normal coturnix egg is usually a double yolk.
Jumbo birds can lay jumbo eggs, but the ones you want to set should be pretty normal looking.

Good luck with your hatch!
