Seriously....what constitutes 'livestock' vs 'pets'?? It's just a categorization. People dont' think twice about keeping a parrot in their houses, but 'gross out' if you mention you had a hen that needed extra care in the house for a while.

Silkies lay eggs sort of more or less on a reliable schedule, and don't look anything like chickens. If people ask you can call them rare asian ground parrots.

I have a trio of black silk.. I mean Asian ground parrots. I get about 5 eggs a week out of each of the girls... IF they are not trying to hatch rocks.
