6 1/2 month old chickens still not laying.

Awww:( Bummer. I know a couple of those breeds take longer to mature like the Australorp and the Brahma. Have you tried putting fake eggs in the nesting boxes? I tried that, and a week later, out popped an egg!

Yes, the fake eggs are in there. I expected my brahma to take awhile. But the others are just being plain exasperating! They are trying to drive me nuts. Grrrr

I have 8 26w that have yet to lay. I'm in MD so daylight is getting shorter. Ugh.
2 EE, 2 SLW, 2 welsummers, and 2 Cuckoo Marans- ( than can take until 30w to lay).

Over the waiting.

Ive had cuckoo marans before and EE's- they've started laying by 20 weeks. Yours are def freeloaders, just like ours!

So, to piggy back, I have a question.... If I have spring pullets, and I just started getting eggs from one of my hamburgs (24 wks)... The hamburgs are 24 weeks, the brahmas and BJG are 23, and the rest are 17. Here's my question; is it possible that some of these girls, like the brahmas, aren't going to lay until next spring because fall is coming on?

Yes. That can happen especially with breeds that take longer to mature.
