Young chicks like a tight pile when sleeping. I suppose the wall gives them a safe side.

No, they do not.....really better to leave it off, even if you feel chilly

Yep and yep. They can’t acclimate to their new environment or the ambient temperatures in an “on again, off again world” so it really does them no kindness, although to us it seems that way. And they have an “If I can’t see it, it ain’t there” mentality, so facing the wall means they don’t have to look at a scary new world, and can still snuggle for security.
