I was sold this chick as a RIR pullet. It's name is Red and it's between 6-7 weeks old. I've tried to find information here about sexing RIR's but can't find many guidlines. I'm also guessing this is a mutt since it doesn't really look like any RIR pullet pics I've seen- after looking at the pics in my post it almost looks like s/he has some dark lacing going on. Can anyone tell me what else it might be? Also since it has no male coming out in the comb is it safe to guess this is at least a pullet? Thanks so much for helping.

Looks like a pullet to me...Not sure its really a RIR though.
Here is a comparison of my pullet/cockeral around 4 weeks or so, and I could already tell. (Roo on left)

Here they are again at 8 weeks or so. I am all but certain thats a pullet :) Also, I am thinking it may be a black sex link or mix like that??? Either way, I do believe its a pullet and will probably lay a bunch of eggs for you!

The photos you posted are very small. The dark colors on the rear portion of the bird and what looks to be a dark splotch on the head all say not a Rhode Island Red. I've no idea what would produce a bird with red and what looks to be a blue/grey coloration mix.

It may be a pullet, however, as there is no comb or wattle development. But, since it is likely a mix, it is very hard to predict.

Thanks so much for the help everyone!! Her comb looks nothing like pandora's @ 8 weeks. It's pretty much still just a numb and as orange/yellow as it was on day 3. Curious as to what breed she may be but as long as she's healthy and lays me some eggs it doesn't really matter.
Here is a better picture- (I didn't realize the originals were so tiny) if anyone want's to venture a guess at the breed.

Really? I'd be thrilled considering the "EE pullet" I got has been crowing for 5 of his 7 weeks of life.... After all my research I thought slate legs and pea combs were two EE characteristics?

No, EEs really can be anything. They're basically mutts, no breed standards for them. They don't need muffs to be an EE, they don't need slate legs to be an EE, they don't need pea combs to be an EE. Basically, whenever someones stumped at guessing a breed, they say "EE" and they're right. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think that's how it works.
