We went on holiday for a week and have come back to find they've all grown loads while we've been away. They are outside full time now (UK) going in at night. They have a run but yesterday we let them wander free range for a while in the garden which will be the plan most of the time once they are bigger.
I keep changing my mind about whether they are hens or roos, at least one has started making a cross between a clucking and a cheeping noise but I'm pretty resigned to a month or two more waiting for a crow or an egg I think! The pictures show their combs and wattles as far redder than they are in real life, they are more pink/yellow than the red they look in the pics.
This is Wobble, I've always assumed he is a roo as he is bigger and heavier than the others with enormous legs and feet:
Here is Freddie, the first to hatch and the one I most hope is a hen:
and with my son holding him, I love how confident my children are with the chickens
Here is Punzel - of the three brown/red hens this is the one I think is most likely to be a roo
Here is Rhonda - no real idea on this one, I veer between roo and hen with it
and with my daughter
and finally Feathers. Feathers was born with one wing and although it's caught up in terms of size and seems to more than hold it's own with it's 'siblings' it's comb is not really developing much. We're resigned to keeping Feathers regardless of whether it's a hen or roo really, although hen would be nice
Any ideas on what they are gratefully received
