My Sussex flock is let out to free range every other day and it is a sight to see these big gorgeous birds roaming around the ranch! These birds are a great winter/spring layer, egg-cellent broodies (three of my hens are broody right now) and mothers. They are a very friendly breed, when I let them out them all chase me back to the house to see if I'm going to give them some goodies. They are always under foot and want to be right in the middle of what ever you are doing. They lay medium to large light brown eggs, and some of the eggs layed by the girls are very shiny and smooth.
