4 Ancona Pullets started laying about a month ago. This week almost every other day I am collecting 6 eggs. For instance Sunday they layed 4 (one each) Monday 6, Tuesday 4 and today 6..... how is that possible. From what I understand it takes 25 hours to produce an egg.

I get this quite a bit aswell, I have 9 chickens, 1 isnt laying, but I get 12 eggs from 8 laying girls... we don't mind makes the children laugh

I recently read that commercial houses get more like 2 a day by leaving lights on 24/7. Just read it once; don't know how true it is. Do they have an all night light source, like maybe a street light that lights up their coop?

If they're doing this with normal darkness, then just be grateful -- and know that your birds may wear out sooner from laying so often.

If one egg is smaller than the other, then its just passing an egg close to the one it needs to lay.Its called a fart egg.(I dont know of an easier word to use).
