I have a beautiful pair of 6 month old GOLDEN PHOENIX chickens
and there are six eggs in the nest !!!
and Proud Pappa really STRUTS HIS STUFF when the egg is laid !!
I am really torn about this being her first clutch of eggs - ( and me new to chickens )
as to incubate or let the momma hatch out her first clutch naturally.
How long should I wait before I put the eggs in the incubator ????
or, put them in the bator now and put dummy eggs in the nest so she will
keep laying - then when she does sit, return the eggs back for her to hatch them naturally ?
This is a SHOW QUALITY pair of Phoenix and I would really love to have
a new brood of Goldens.
now - - - -
Question #1 how many eggs could i realistically expect from her first cycle ?
or, will she lay eggs all year long like some other breeds do.
Question #2 how many eggs will she lay before she starts to sit ?
the first egg was laid on 3/16 and second egg - today is 3/26
it looks like she will lay an egg every other day.
Thanks in advance !!
