6 hens laid 12 eggs overnight! THE TRUTH.

We cleaned out every egg from the hen house to clean it. All new hay and everything. Yesterday they laid their 6 eggs which were brought into the house. This morning my husband reached the hen house before I did and said "you are not going to believe this!". . . there are 12 eggs in there (he could see them through the cage because he had not entered the hen house yet.

Awesome things. How can this be possible? I did want to give eggs out at a Holy Day celebration coming up ... I had 37 eggs so far. Now the chickens for some reason are in overdrive and laying like incredible amounts of eggs!

Let me know if this is normal or what. We just started to raise chickens.

Maybe each hen just laid two. I have had a hen lay two eggs in one day.

How old are the hens, and what breed are they?
Perhaps they all just laid very early in the morning, but the norm is supposed to be about an egg every 25 hours.

My FIL had several chickens a few years ago that laid 2 eggs a day. It's not common and I find it odd all 6 would do so at once, but not impossible.
