But it's a good thing. They'll be in my freezer tomorrow night. Of my 30 chicks I bought in April, I ended up with 10 roosters. I kept one RIR, one Silver Laced Wyandotte and the 2 funky phoenix roosters. The 2 sussex had to go along with the "extras" of the other breeds. Hopefully we'll have peace in the coop tomorrow. The 2 sussex were refusing to leave the coop and refusing to let ayone else back in all day long

The lovely SLW I kept has been herding the hens to good free ranging spots each day and getting them back in when "danger" showed itself. The RIR I kept is just beautiful but not much of a leader. The phoenixes stick to themselves or hang out with the ducks!

wow, I'm in trouble!!! I just realized that I out of the 17 hens that I added to my flock, 5 of them are roos. So I have 26 hens and 5 roos. They are just starting to make a sound and they sound like teen age boys. Its so funny. Guess I'm gonna have to get rid of some of them. Just makes me mad. I bought them at a swap at 10 and 11 weeks. I would of thought that they owner would of known that they weren't all hens.

I bougth straight run day old chicks so I actually expected around half to be hens. I guess I lucked out. Of course now we only have 6 for the freezer but we'll have lots of eggs!

I just traded in two roosters for pullets yesterday and bought a 3rd pullet while I was there so now I've only got 2 roos and 14 girls. Hope that ratio works out.... Definitely is much better than 4 roos to 11 girls!
