6 mo. hamburg laying 4 days after mate died-Are they fertile?

Or was the roo too young? They mostly free-ranged and I had never seen them mate. The roo was eaten by a hawk 4 days ago.

They were both 6 months old and all I managed to hatch from 8 ebay eggs.

From the info I've picked up on the forum, a hen will be fertile from one successful mating for 2-3 wks after that mating. So, yes, your eggs should be fertile as far as I know.

Only one way to find out...stick them in the bator!

If the rooster was mating the hen (he very well could of been, you just didnt see it being done) they should be, and can stay fertile for up to 2 weeks.

Well, I guess I will pull the old LG incubator out of the attic.

I do need to get a new hygrometer though. I washed the last one in a pair of jeans. LOL
