no that's equine fresh. i was trying it out in the big chick cage and well it's what i've got so it's what they get. plus it was cheaper than the pine bedding. i've got new chicks that hatched overnight so i'll be posting more pics. this is so fun i never want it to end.

CUTE little tackers! I hope they do okay for you on the equine fresh; I use that for my horses, and had posted long about about using it for chickens and it seemed like most folks worried that they'd think it was food. That stuff expands up to be huge once it's wet, so if they ingest it, you may have problems there. Hopefully you'll be okay, though! Best of luck on the rest of them hatching!!

yeah i had thought about that when i put it in there but so far they are doing okay. i found that with the big chicks they flattened it out since they are so messy with their water. also with the little chicks i didn't mist it first and it's kind of doing the clumping litter thing with their waste, so most of it is staying in pellet form. time will tell.
