6 Solid BLUE marans eggs

My blue hen, cocoa looks just like peachicks. They seem to pass on the dark egg genes as well. My girls all lay dark especially for blues.

Most blue marans were developed from cucoos. The cucoos dont tend to lay as dark an egg as the coppers.
I developed my line of blues from coppers... so I have been able to have good egg color. The down side is it is hard to get solid blue roosters..... Some still get a little coppering int he hackles.
I have several solid blue boys here... but still get an occasional throwback with coppering.... its better every year though.

ummm... horny? They gang raped a pretty splash hen yesterday I was so upset for her

These boys are non agresive. I have never had a nasty maran. (but that leghorn roo put a nice hole in hubbys leg last fall)

Good to know...I have been looking at the blue/splash marans for awhile. I think I want them bad. Especially yours - love the egg color!

I may have to get my craft room cleaned up in a hurry! (deal with hubby - can't use incubator until craft room is pretty.

)
