I got a sexed chick from a feed store about six weeks ago (it may have been a little longer than that), it was said to be an Americauna but it looks like an EE from what I've been able to tell online, although I'm really not knowledgable so I'm not sure. It was supposed to be a hen, but today I caught "her" trying to mount one of my silkies plus "she"'s always been kind of aggressive, and after looking into it online I'm actually feeling pretty sure it's a roo, but I wanted to check with some people who knew more to make sure, since pretty much everything I know comes from the internet. I live in an urban area where roosters aren't allowed, so if he is a rooster I'll have to find a new home for him, and these guys are first an foremost pets to me and I'm really attached so I'd really rather be as sure as possible before I have to turn to that.

Here are some pictures of the chicken in question:

Thanks so much for any assistance, it really means a lot to me!

If the comb has 3 rows of bumps, then its a roo, if its got a peacomb. It does look like a roo.

3 rows would look like this looking straight down at the comb:
0O0
0O0
0O0
0O0

A pullet would look like this:

o
o
o
o
o

Ah, he does have the three rows...well thank you both very much! It's nice to be sure at least so I can figure out what to do next.

You don't even need to look at the head to see that this one is a rooster. See the red feathers coming in on the shoulders? And how the feather pattern is kind of patchy, not one pattern all over the body? Those are two traits that scream cockerel.

(not all EE cockerels have three rows of peas, and some EE cockerels don't start developing the comb until 14-15 weeks. Looking at feather pattern is often the easiest and earliest way to sex EEs)
