I bought some EEs as pullets only, but this one is so much bolder than the rest, has brighter hackle feathers, and seems to have a wider pea comb developing. Is she a "he"? Pictures were taken this morning at 6 weeks old. The last picture is typical of the others' comb growth for comparison. Thanks.

I am going to guess pullet. I am no expert and I only say that because she looks just like three of my 6 week old ee "pullets." Then again I always question if one isn't a roo. I will probably be posting my "girls" soon for an opinion.

I'm thinking Roo, too.

Montana-Hens, Are your EE straight run or supposed to be all pullets? I got mine from Cackle. How are the combs looking on yours? Any getting wider at the top and a little pink? That's the main reason I'm thinking Roo. I have 7, and that one seems different than the others, though it is so hard to tell with the little pea combs. I think I can tell at 2 1/2 weeks with the Buttercups, but these EEs are hard to tell!

Am I the only one who thinks this is a pullet? When my EE was 6 weeks her comb was just as big as that one but was even more red. I posted about her gender here 2 weeks ago, everyone said she was a pullet due to her coloring and round feathers. So as long as yours doesn't develop any sharp saddle or hackle feathers in the next 3 weeks. Then it's probably a pullet. Also, my other EE has a huge comb...but it's stayed a very light yellow and she has round saddle feathers.

She is supposed to be a pullet, but her personality is different from my other EEs. If she is a pullet I'll definitely be keeping her as she is much cooler than the others.
