I am loving the colors on my little Cayuga lady! She’s about 6 1/2 weeks old (pictures taken today). She still has some baby fluff, but I can almost always see her beautiful iridescent colors.

Im curious how her colors compare to other female Cayugas at her age? I’ve also heard they get lighter as they get older. Does that mean they get some white feathers? Or do the blues and greens fade?

Extra info: I got her from Metzer Farms. She is such a calm, sweet girl, but also stands up for herself when other ducks are pushy. I feel very lucky to be this little lady’s ‘duck mama’.

Beautiful! Her colors are normal for a Cayuga her age. And yes, with every molt they will the a few to a lot of white feathers. One of my girls turned half white her first molt while one of my others only had one or two white feathers. The blue/green doesn't necessarily fade away, it either gets replaced or stays.

This is Lily. She is two years old in this picture.

This is Otto. He is also two years old.

And lastly, this is Willa, who again is two years old.

So basically, they all "go grey" at different times in their lives. They still keep the beautiful blue/green shimmer though.

She’s so pretty! Looks like my Cayuga did. I think they end up getting white spots. I’m not sure if the blue and green fades

Thank you so much! Your pictures are incredibly helpful! I look forward to seeing her colors change. Her greens and blues look more vibrant to me in person than pictures I’ve seen of young Cayugas, so I was curious. I’m sure she will be just as adorable with some white feathers as she gets older ❤️

Yeah, pictures don't do the colors justice. They are soooo much prettier in person.
