6 week old lavender Cuckoo orpingtons

Hi all,

I have 3 6 week old lavender Cuckoo orpingtons (apparently - had 3 differing colours on hatch )
I thought I had 2 male 1 female but not so sure now any thoughts? Think the first pic is a hen, 2nd not sure, 3rd male

I think you're right. But they're not cuckoo, just lavender.

If they were cuckoo indeed, which I'm not seeing then the white barring would be wider than the lavender barring on the males as male offspring get a double dose of barring from their mother.

The one with dark leakage (coming down the ramp maybe splash??) and the one with bald shoulders, both might be boys. 6 weeks can be a little early for some lines of Orpington and may still see some late bloomers.

Watch those wattles.. they're the first thing to become bright red.

Pointy male specific saddle and hackle feather start to grow in around 12 weeks for most non hen feathers breeds.. You'll probably know before that though.

The first one looks like a pullet still. So in other words I agree with your current 2-1 assessment.

I think that the 1 pullet, 2 cockerels guesses are still pretty much on the money. Will upload some pics in a week or two when I'm 99% sure

Update! 9.5weeks
First pic is Mr cockerel (seems to have some barring)
Second pic is a pullet
Third pic (with leakage) I'm unsure of but would still lean towards a cockerel.

Thoughts?
