Hi,
I have recently acquired 2 Japanese quails who are 5 and 6 weeks old. I put them in their hutch overnight (outside) and came back early in the morning to check on them, my eldest chick had a sort of gash on her head which was proved to be due to her 5 week old sister pecking it continuously due to nerves of the new home. 2 days later the 6 week old (who is separated until she heals) Is trying to sleep lots and is not walking round much. I gave her some grains, seeds and mealworms but was still lying in her nest trying to sleep. She is pooping normally and the gash on her head is healing extraordinarily fast. Yes we have sexed them and they are definitely 100% hens and we are currently in the process of moving house so hopefully when we arrive the other ones nerves will of died down and we are planning to let them back together when Treecko (the 6 week old- nearly 7) heals and Eevee (The 5 week old- nearly 6) Has lost her nervousness.
