My 6 week old rooster has been making a very loud and obnoxious terrifying screeching noise. At first i thought he was starting to crow but that doesn’t happen till around 4 months. Please help! Also they are barred plymouth rocks.

I find all their screeches, growls & alarms entertaining! It's amazing the sounds that can come out of a chicken. I'm convinced that the movie Jurassic Park used rooster sounds as their dinosaur's sounds. We'll laugh when we hear our roosters make some freaky roar and recall "That's the Velociraptor's roar!" (BTW, I do not believe, scientifically, that chickens evolved from dinosaurs...but that's for another day).

He could definitely be crowing. Some chicks even crow at less that a week old!! (That's pretty rare, but if you want to see it, check out the thread called Pipd's Peeps by @pipdzipdnreadytogo near the last couple of pages)

I'll save you the looking. ;) Here's my little bantam Cochin guy crowing at 6 days old. He started crowing at 4 days, just like his big brothers did last year.

Now, here's one that may be of more use to confirm or deny whether your little guy is crowing. This fella was just an hair over 6 weeks old in this video. If your guy sounded anything like this, then he's definitely crowing. :)

He could be starting to crow. Some roosters start crowing at quite a young age. I had one chick that crowed at only four days old.

I have also had cockerels start to crow as young as 4 weeks and others as late as 10 weeks. You just have an early bloomer
