Hi everyone- my BR roo is 6 weeks old and had a string stuck down his throat, i tried pulling it out, it wouldn't come out, so i cut it, he seemed fine after that- eating drinking preening, will he pass it through??

If it went on down, he should be fine but I thought I would take this opportunity to warn everyone of the dangers of the strings that come off the bags of feed - please destroy them - don't leave them laying around. Chickens will try to eat them, as in this case, but they will also get them wrapped around their legs. My DH is not as careful about this as I am so I had him help me cut the peacock out of the string that it had gotten wound so tightly around one leg with the other end caught on a cage that I thought it would have cut its leg off. Then a week later found a chick hopping all over the yard with both its legs tied together. I keep telling DH he can't just throw them on the ground. Now that he's had to help untie and cut free two animals that got caught up in string, he seems to be more careful now. But the other day I saw him just throwing the strings on the burn pile and I reminded him that's the chickens favorite place to scratch and roll.

i agree completely- i kept thinking they are like toddlers- and we have to look at things the way they do... so far he seems fine, but in the morning i am going to do a thorough look over and make sure there is nothing dangerous laying around... he loves the attention though!

i am hoping he just passes it through
