6TH ATTEMPT ON HATCHING MY CALL DUCK EGGS

Usually crosses do much better than pures, as rule of thumb... that being said, since your hen is a Call, you'll need to go more by Call incubation techniques for the best luck...

@WVduckchick made a great observarion, I run all my Calls between 30-40% humidity, max... and mist the eggs late in incubation if air cells are still small...

Another thing is, Call eggs *do not* do well in upright turners... no matter if they're SQ, BQ, or PQ... and while GQF's are wonderful bators, I have heard from many that Calls just don't do well in them at all... others have gotten cheap styrofoam bators even, just to run Call eggs in because of that...

I would lay them down and hand turn, or try taping them into the turner on their sides...

Thank you so much. I will turn them sideways.

Very welcome, hope that helps! :fl

I do know that when I tested Calls in my own upright turner, 40 good, viable eggs all quit before reaching lockdown a few at lockdown... and most of those were PQ ones... :hmm

I have them turned sideways now and my humidity is mid 30's after covering 3/4 of my water tray. thanks for all the good info. If anyone knows where i can get some grey calls let me know. (egg's or chicks)

Good deal... :fl

I can't guarantee to have grey Call eggs this year, I am focusing on my Snowy line, Lilacs, Silvers, Pieds and various other non-standard colors this year... I will not ship Call ducklings, sorry, and neither will any ethical Call breeder... they *do not* ship well, unfortunately... if you want live shipped, best to look for started juvies or adults, just fyi...

Chicken broody? Your mixed ones or pure Call eggs? If the mixed ones, *maybe not*, pures, yes... either way, I would keep checking on them, monitor and be ready to assist if needed...

Yes one of my chickens are acting like she wants to go broody. It my mixed ones that I'm thinking about putting under her. I will put some under her if i know for sure she goes broody and monitor them.
