Hi all! I’m new here and I would love some help from some experienced eyes sexing my 7 1/2 week old Easter Eggers. There are 9 birds and most of them have two pictures but a few of the flightier ones I was only able to get one from. Let me know if you need any better pictures. In my mind they all have cockerel-like traits but I sure hope they aren’t all cockerels! They’re my first batch of chickens and I really want some pretty blue eggs! My best guess is 1-pullet, 2-pullet, 3-cockerel, 4-cockerel, 5-cockerel for sure 6-pullet? 7-cockerel, 8-pullet , 9-pullet

I agree with above that #5 is for sure a boy. #7 maybe. Rest appear to be pullets. Too early to be sure. They do not however, all appear to be EE. Several of them have single combs. Nice set of birds!:)

I noticed that too! I'm not sure what they are. They could be mixes.

#5 is a cockerel. #7 possibly is a cockerel although it's really hard to tell. What male specific traits are you referring to?

Please see: https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...ail-feathers-in-easter-egger-juveniles.75908/
In picture 1, for instance she/he has a few feathers coming in on the shoulders that are kinda rusty in colour. A lot of their colours are coming in a lot patchier than the hen colours I’ve seen for Easter Eggers on this site. I also noticed that most of their combs have red on the sides.

I can see that on #1 too but it's so young. I would just keep watching them! You know what to look for. :)

What do you think the ones with single combs might be? Do you think any of the batch are EE?

From what I can tell 1,2,3 4 and possibly 8 have peacombs and coloring fairly consistent with EE. I do not really see any obvious muffs or beards, though not all EEs have these. I will see if @Odd One Out is available for professional EE opinions! :) Others are likely mixed breeds, which technically EEs are as well.

Hey guys! You were bang on with the sexing project. Thanks for your help! Here’s a picture of the only two roosters out of the batch of 9 straight run chicks. Pretty happy with my odds! Top one is #5 “little roo” and the other one is #7 “Benedict”. Got my first egg yesterday from #8 “cookie”. She’s been squatting for a week and she layed a pretty pale brown.
