Hi Guys,
OK here are some new pictures of the questionable Ameraucana/EE chicks. They are about 7 1/2 weeks old.
I was supposed to receive 10 pullets and 5 cockerles they sent one extra and I'm afraid it is looking like I only received 9 pullets

and 7 cockerles.
Ok I have seen 5 crowing for sure and they have a very red comb so I know they are males. This one hasn't crowed and the comb is lighter then the known males.

Thanks for any help. I'm going to have a heck of a time deciding who to keep. I'm going to try to keep two roos and if they fight a lot then we'll keep one.
More chick pictures are in my album here

How old are they? I see a rooster and then the next picture i see a pullet so i am over a barrell. I had an EE Rooster and he stuck out like a sore thumb.

I have ordered from Meyers Hatchery and they have never made a mistake yet on gender. I just love them.

The one with the black head is a boy, and the brown and white one (1st group of pics) maybe is a boy - the feathers look really roo like, even though the comb is a little smaller. See if there is a difference in the thickness of their legs vs the pullets. They are pretty birds!

Thank you.
This one did crow this am

His comb is so much paler than the other males I was starting to think a crowing pullet.. lol
I'll still hold on claiming this one as a cockerel or pullet for a bit

I hope she is a she I don't want 7 cockerels

Well, chicken poo

so much for them sexing them. I was supposed to have 10 pullets and it looks like they only gave me 9

Glad I ordered more this week

Well chick one and two both are crowing now so it looks like my order of 10 pullets came with one cockerel and the bonus peanut is a cockerel too. Down to 9 hens but we got 25 more coming in a week

and 6 more two weeks after that.
Hope we get better results on pullets this time.

Well, 9 out of 10 is exactly what the hatcheries guarantee - 90% accuracy on sexed birds. Still not cool when you get a mistake, but that's what we've got to accept.

I lucked out with my last order from McMurray, and ended up with 25 hens and a rooster. My rare and exotic was a pullet, and one of the other, not so rare birds, was a cockerel. My only sexed order from Ideal was 100% correct.

Hope your new babies are what you want. Have fun!
