I hav ea 7 1/2 month old Tom and a 2 yr old hen, she lays down and all he does is peck her on the head!!!!!! Is this normal, when do the Toms start doing their deed?? Any help needed
Ayda
Sometimes it takes them a while to figure things out... As long as he isn't like my dog, he is 9 years old and only 'figured it out' once and that was 7 years ago.
I am having the same issue. Two toms three hen and the older hen is allowing the toms to mount but then he just sits there. The younger hens are showing no interest in the toms nor are the toms interested in the the young hens. I do have some eggs in the bator to see if the deed has been successful and I was not aware of if but I have low expectations. Hope they get 'it' soon, I cannot wait for baby Beltville Whites.
well if they are new to each other they'll have to fight it out first... but if they aren't new to each other they'll figure out what they are supposed to do (unless they are broad-breasted turkeys).. & normally if the hen is older than the tom she will not mate with him, the girls like older guys
